2014 Toyota Matrix 5-Speed Manual Transmission Convenience Package at Squamish Toyota

This is a local, accident-free 2014 Toyota Matrix with just 33,500 kilometres which was just traded in for a new Toyota Corolla iM wagon.

It is in brilliant shape and could nearly pass for a new vehicle.

It is powered by a lively yet efficient 1.8L four cylinder engine with a five speed manual transmission.

The Matrix is an amazingly versatile automobile with split/folding rear seat backs that fold down flat to allow for an amazing amount of cargo storage. The Matrix sits up higher than most cars, giving a favorable view of the road ahead though it is very stable and reassuring on a winding highway. It is front wheel drive and performs admirably in slippery conditions.

Features of this car include remarkably comfortable seats with a height adjustable driver’s seat, AM/FM/CD audio system with USB and AUX input, Bluetooth capability, steering wheel controls, power windows, power and heated mirrors, power door locks with keyless entry, air conditioning, cruise control and a 5-speed manual transmission.

Safety equipment is impressive and include dual front airbags, side airbags, side curtain airbags, 16 inch wheels, traction control, vehicle stability control and anti-lock brakes (ABS).

We have fully inspected and serviced this car and stand behind it with factory warranty coverage good through October of 2019 or 100,000 kilometres. This is a Toyota Certified Used Vehicle.

A check of the CarProof Vehicle History report shows that this vehicle has an impressive accident-free and claims-free history.

Odometer reading: 33,500 kilometres. Priced at $15,800 with financing available at 1.9%.

Is Your New Year’s Resolution To Be “Greener” in 2013?

Squamish Toyota of the Vancouver and Squamish Areas and going green for new years

Year after year we make resolutions that are tough to keep. This year, make a plan to help the environment and your community by taking simple steps and ensure you keep your promise. Here are 4 ways to get started:

1.  Supermarket Savvy: Only 1 percent of plastic bags are recycled in North America, the rest

shopping bags squamishend up in landfills, or the ocean – taking up to 1,000 years to decompose. Your solution? Turn down plastic bags and opt for reusable ones. The bonus is that reusable bags often hold more and are quite a bit more durable. For more information on how Squamish and the Sea to Sky areas are supporting this movement check out the non-profit Greener Footprints. They distributed one shopping bag per household in 2009 to our entire community.

Eat-Local Squamish Toyota2.  Eat local: Purchasing food that was made, grown or raised within your province or better yet locally will help support your local economy and the farmers and establishments that are producing humane, environmentally conscious products. Your solution? Try opting for a delivery service like Sea to Sky Organics. you can pick out the green or organic version of nearly everything on your shopping list and have it delivered once a week to your door.

3.  Go Easy on The Gas: Each year cars emit more than 300 million tons of carbon into the atmosphere in the Unites States alone. The pollution causes hazy smog to form in the air and has devastating affects on our ecosystem. The solution? One method is to try electric. The Prius plug-in is a serious way to cut down on emissions. Short range a commuter may not even need to use a drop of gas to get to work. Secondly, opt for the wide variety of hybrid cars available in Squamish and Vancouver such as the compact Prius C or the family sized Highlander Hybrid. If your not ready for a hybrid or electric car, there are many ways to drive around Squamish and Vancouver with fuel efficiency in mind. Check out the Pollution Probe and Canadian Toyota-Prius_Plug-in_Hybrid_2013 Squamish Toyota Automobile Association’s “Busting Myths About Fuel Efficiency and Driving” guide:

4.  Recycle Clothes: Turn old clothes into new ones by donating and shopping at local thrift stores. Check out Tourism Squamish’s website for details on shopping local:

Winter is Here: Ready or Not!

Squamish Toyota of the Vancouver and Squamish Areas and safe Winter Driving Tips

The snow flakes and rain drops are officially flying! All this new weather can be hard on your car, that’s why Squamish Toyota’s service department got together to write down the top 5 things you can do to prepare your vehicle for winter.

  1. Winterize the fuel system – With dropping temperatures and increased moisture, the fuel system and all of the pipes and hoses that work in harmony with it, can leak or wear. Depending on the make and model of your car winterizing the fuel system can be tricky, you may want to seek out the help of the service department to knock this off your checklist. feel free to come down and see us if you have any questions.winter driving Tips from Squamish Toyota for Vancouver Whistler and the Sea To Sky
  2. Check the antifreeze – The radiator needs a certain level of anti-freeze to lower its freezing point and prevent damage to the engine block. Bottom line- Maintaining the antifreeze will extend the lifetime of your car. Check out this article from e-how to learn more about antifreeze
  3. Put winter tires on when temperature reaches 7c – Insurance Canada agrees that leaving your summer tires on when temperatures get below 7 degrees Celsius can cause damage to the car and the tire. Check out their official news post here
  4. Check windshield wipers and washer fluid – Driving conditions can be worrisome enough with slick roads, factor in a lack of clear visibility and driving gets downright tough. Make sure your windshield wipers are in working order and that your car has plenty of washer fluid that is meant to withstand freezing temperatures before weathering your next storm.
  5. Have emergency preparation equipment in your vehicle- It’s important to always be prepared, especially when it comes to driving the sea to sky highway in winter conditions! Take some time to put together an emergency kit with items like a blanket, candles, water, snacks etc – to ensure your safe in case of an emergency. Safe Winter Driving Tips Vancouver Squamish Sea To Sky

**Bonus Winter Driving Tip: Check your spare tire and be sure you are familiar with how to access it, you never know when it will come in handy.

We want to make sure you have a safe season and that your vehicle goes the extra mile for you. If you would like more information on winterizing your vehicle please don’t hesitate to come see us!

The Green Sea to Sky Commuter

Squamish Toyota of the Vancouver and Squamish Areas and the Hybrid Prius

Vancouver and the Sea to Sky Corridor are making change a reality by taking part in some unique options to make work and play a little more eco-friendly. Check out these three contributions to the green effort:

Sea to Sky Clean Air Society:

Thanks to the Sea-to-Sky Clean Air Society our communities have access to eco smart forums, news, bike to work initiatives and more. With an area like Squamish known as the “recreation capital” it’s important to think ahead about preservation. Recently, the S2SCAS brought together citizens spanning all the Sea2Sky clean air society helps Squamish and Vancouver go green_Hybrids article_Squamish_Toyotaway from Metro Vancouver to weigh in on the future of our regions public transportation in a forum known as ‘Compute the Commute“.

SeatoSky_Trail_ helps Squamish and Vancouver go green_Hybrids article_Squamish_ToyotaSea to Sky Trail:

In an area known for it’s incredible mountain biking, the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District has taken bike (and hiking) travel to a whole new level. Their website sums it up best: “This 180 kilometre, non-motorized, multi-use trail is being built right now for everyone to enjoy. The trail is optimized for mountain bikes and will provide users with a full outdoor experience of the landscape and the natural and human history of the Sea to Sky corridor.” Why is this trail groundbreaking? It’s users can ride, walk or run along it and access any town from Squamish to D’Arcy.

Hybrid Taxis:

Taxi companies in Vancouver, Squamish and Whistler are taking the extra step to go green by using hybrids like the Toyota Prius (many actually come from Squamish Toyota) to shuttle passengers. Hybrid Taxi owners such as Frank Ryan of Howe Sound Taxi are embracing the trend and setting a standard for the corridor.”As gas prices rise, Ryan said he will suffer less at the pump. The goal is to save money, but Ryan said purchasing the hybrid is also about shrinking the Howe Sound Taxi carbon footprint.” Other companies using hybrid taxis include:
