One of the best additions for the 2016 RAV4 lineup is the introduction of the SE trim, which joins the LE, XLE, and Limited trims from the 2015 model.
The 2016 Toyota RAV4 SE will sit on unique SE 18-inch alloy wheels, feature LED headlights and tail lamps, SofTex Leather upholstery with heated sport seats, contrasting red stitching, heated steering wheel, power moonroof, blind spot monitors with rear cross traffic alert, power tailgate and a voice-activated navigation system.
The SE model also receives a sport-tuned suspension designed to provide improved handling and flatter cornering.
We caught up with Mike Nelson, Principle of Cascade Environmental and longtime friend of Squamish Toyota to ask him about his fleet sales purchases and what it means to give back to the environment.
Q: When did you come down to purchase your vehicles from us here at Squamish Toyota?
A: It was June/July 2011
Q: What did you buy?
A: Cascade Environmental leased a 4 Runner, and three Tacomas, our general
manger also purchased a Matrix.
Q: What brought you to Squamish Toyota?
A: We wanted the reliability of Toyota and hoped to deal with a local outlet. Also, I’ve known Mark [Squamish Toyota’s dealer principle] and Gail for something like 40 years (but who’s counting)!
Q: Wow, that’s amazing! So who did you deal with when you came to look at vehicles?
A: Primarily Mark [Lightheart] for the vehicle selection but also Blake, and Flemming for the lease paperwork. It was painless, what can I say, it’s not supposed to be an ordeal.
Q: So, was there anything special about your purchase experience?
A: This was just after the tsunami in Japan, and there were a few supply nisus, but Mark and his team managed to get the vehicles we wanted.
Q: That must have been quite an emotional time to buy. In the end, are you pleased with your vehicles and service?
A: You bet, probably the best thing we can say, is that you don’t even think about them, they are just reliable. Brad in Squamish Toyota’s service dept
. always has our vehicles ready to go on time, and manges to squeeze us in when I’m in a pinch.
Thanks for your time Mike! We’ll see you out on the road to adventure…
Squamish Toyota has seen a large shift in customer needs over the last 10 years. The CBC News Vancouver, reports gas prices have peaked earlier and faster than any year in the past decade. As these prices continue to grow, commuters in the North Vancouver, Squamish and Sea to Sky Corridor are changing their priorities when purchasing a car.
The First Generation Toyota Prius
Que Hybrid Technology: Squamish Toyota among other Vancouver area dealerships began selling the Toyota Prius as a line of defence against high fuel costs and the toll gas propelled cars take on the environment. The first generation Toyota Prius seated 5, and was one of the primary cars to be rated an “Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV)”.
The need to have a kinder impact on the environment stems from the discovery that “the earth’s atmosphere is rapidly changing,” reports a Worcester Polytechnic Institute study. “This change is largely due to human activity; industry, transportation, waste and everyday living.”
Buzzle.com suggests that Hybrids like the Prius serve as a positive influence on the environment in a few ways: Primarily, these cars cut down on chemical and smoke emissions into our atmosphere a large contributor to global warming. Secondly, these cars cut down on noise pollution, an often-overlooked factor that contributes to preserving the serenity of Squamish, the Sea to Sky Corridor and the entire Vancouver area.
Squamish Toyota suggests that although the Prius is a strong solution to the many qualms of car consumers it will continue to evolve. The Toyota Prius Hybrid is now in it’s third generation and features a family of vehicles including the more spacious Prius V, the smaller city car known as the Prius C and the most recent addition: The Prius Plug-in Hybrid.
